Iris Maertens

Iris Maertens is a graphic designer and illustrator. Her work mainly focuses on Visual Harvesting – Process Design – Visual Storytelling – Strategic Illustrations

Iris studied at the Royal Athenaeum of Fine Arts in and later completed an MBA in graphic design and web design at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium. 

For the past 12 years she has mainly worked for NGOs, either to work on the design and implementation of strategic digital communications, or with creative actions, online or offline.

She believes that you should never compromise on beauty when it comes to making compelling campaigns, this is an idea reflected so nicely in the following quote;

As visual facilitator for events, workshops and conferences, making illustrated summaries of the content presented or discussed, capturing the essence in real time. 

She has worked on an array of projects for NGOs and organizations all over the world. 

She has done graphic facilitations for Greenpeace International Oceans campaigns, the UN Oceans conference, VLIS (Flemish Institute for the Sea), Oceana and Our Fish. 

For campaign designs, she as worked for Our Fish, Birdlife International, Surfrider, Seas At Risk, Our Fish, and Greenpeace International. 
Campaign designs include; banner designs and graphic designs for folders and other campaign materials, the design of an illustrated pop-up book, a comic book, a fish stand in front of the EU parliament, an Egyptian market before the COP27 in Egypt, ocean super-heroes calling on EU ministers for change. 

Iris loves a challenge and enjoys thinking up out-of-the-box concepts to make campaigns more impactful.
