Dave Walsh
Senior Communications and Strategy Advisor
I provide communications and strategy support to organisations working in the ocean and climate arena. I currently act as communications advisor to theGlobal Climate and Health Alliance and its quest to get health on the agenda at UN Climate Summits, to the Clean Arctic Alliance for its work to protect the Arctic from shipping, the Clean Shipping Coalition on reducing greenhouse gas emissions from ships and Client Earth’s Decarbonise Now campaign – aimed at decarbonising the EU fishing fleet.
Recently, I also took charge of communications for the Our Fish campaign to end overfishing, and the Med Sea Alliance‘s work to protect the Mediterranean Sea from destructive and illegal fishing.
Previously, I worked with the Antarctic Ocean Alliance and the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition on creating marine protected areas, with the International Polar Foundation on communicating Arctic and Antarctic science. I have also worked extensively with Greenpeace International, blogging and providing communications support on numerous ship-based expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic, working to end whaling and to document climate change. I was in at the deep end with Greenpeace – in my first few days, I found myself in the middle of the Tasman Sea, working to track destructive bottom trawlers.
I also work as photographer – check out davewalshphoto.com for details.
